Old Song, New Orchestra
This 3+ year old piece (the original version) got placed on CBS a few months ago - for what I still don’t know, but it makes for a cool story. It’s a quasi-Christmas piece, really a Nutcracker imitation Jeff asked me to write for his Liquid Cinema - Family Adventure trailer music library. This also begs the question - how early is CBS starting Christmas this year?
The old version - it’s not bad, but my orchestral library samples have gotten better by leaps and bounds, so I thought I’d go in and do an update. Listening back on the piece, I’m actually really impressed I had this in me. Can I write a similar piece now? I honestly don’t know - that’s what makes composing scary sometimes. Maybe I’ll try a follow-up after I work up my orchestral and theory chops again.
